Di Fi aka Digital Filth aka Paul Carroll has been DJ-ing for 8 years and producing for 6. Coming from a hip hop background, Paul naturally started off with turntablism. After getting into house music he decided to fuse funky beats with hip-hop’s turntablism, and through this won many DJ Competitions. One significant victory was in the Mixitmoto DJ Competition, sponsored by Motorola and Ministry of Sound. Paul was crowned champion out of the competition’s hundreds of entrants from England, Scotland and Ireland. He won a cameo role in the film 'Its All Gone Pete Tong', and played in a DJ tour, sponsored by Motorola, across Europe. This was in addition to his many DJ appearances at various nights and raves across Britain. After a couple of years DJ-ing he didn't want to just play music, he wanted to make it.
In 2003, whilst self teaching computer based music production, Paul decided to dedicate all his time to making music. Not wanting to send any of his music out until he felt it was ready Paul has held off sending out demos until the year 2006 and it was worth the wait. 2006 has been a exciting year for Digital Filth. Featuring in many magazines, including 'Computer Music' and 'IDJ', and making his debut appearances on Radio with Radio 1's Fergie, Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens shows. Along with this, he won a major remix competition that IDJ magazine ran, and through this secured a release on Spinout Records. Spinout decided to offer Digital Filth an EP release on Uncut, a new digital label.
